Hotel info

The Old Cart House bed and breakfast is a tastefully converted barn with magnificent sea views from the gardens overlooking National Trust land and Dodman Point. The quiet, sandy Hemmick beach and the coastal path are 10 minutes walk with other superb and unusually quiet beaches close by. We will ensure you receive a warm welcome and feel at home. The world renowned Eden Project is only 20 minutes drive and the popular Lost Gardens of Heligan are 10 minutes drive. We are walking distance to the convivial Barley Sheaf Inn and a short drive from a wide choice of other eating options. From The Old Cart House you can walk to the quiet sandy beach of Hemmick in 10 minutes or a 30 minute walk along the coastal path can take you to either the secluded Volt beach adjacent to Gorran Haven to the east or westward to Porthluney beach with the imposing Caerhays Castle overlooking the cove. There is a large car park at Porthluney so you have the option to drive there in just a few minutes. The picturesque harbour village of Gorran Haven is close by and has a range of facilities and a sandy beach within the old harbour. A bit further afield is the charming fishing village of Mevagissey with it s picture postcard views and quaint narrow roads. The historic market town of St Austell and Victorian port of Charlestown with it s square rigged sailing ships are a short drive and a little bit further is Fowey, a popular yachting town. You can also go by ferry from Mevagissey to Fowey if you fancy a sea trip. Further west down the Roseland Peninsula is St Mawes with Pendennis Castle and passenger ferry to the ancient sea farers town of Falmouth. Within an hours drive there is much more to see and enjoy in Cornwall, all from our central base in mid Cornwall.
