Otarunai Backpacker's Hostel is the first backpacker's hostel in Hokkaido, just 1.4 km away from Otaru Station and a 3-minute walk to Suitengu Temple. Otaru Canal is a 10-minute walk away. It offers simple private and dormitory accommodation with a free-use kitchen, a terrace and free Wi-Fi.

Simple heated rooms with shared bathrooms and toilets are provided at The Otarunai Backpacker's Hostel Morinoki. Slippers are included, and a fan is used for cooling in warm weather. All rooms are non-smoking.

Guests can enjoy the garden, watch a DVD at the lounge or do laundry with the chargeable launderette. The hostel has a cat and Welsh Corgi dogs.

The property is not staffed before 15:00. Free luggage storage is available from 15:00. Guests arriving after check-in hours (22:00) must inform the property in advance. Please note that guests using public transport are advised to get off at Otaru Station, not Minami-Otaru Station. The way from Otaru Station has better road conditions, there are no slopes, and guests will be passing through an arcade, which provides shelter from the snow. This hostel has a dog and a cat. The entire hostel is non-smoking. Please inform The Otarunai Backpacker's Hostel Morinoki in advance of your expected arrival time.
