As per Colombia's tax laws Foreign visitors and Colombian citizens currently living outside Colombia are tax-exempt (19% VAT) when receive a PIP3, PIP5, PIP6, PIP10, TP7, TP11 stamp or TP12 visa upon entry to the country. Exemption only applies to room package rates (accommodation plus service). Permit must be shown upon arrival. This tax is not automatically calculated in the total cost of the reservation. All minors under 18 years of age also need to present a valid ID with photo, to prove their identity and that of his/her parents. This must be presented even if a minor is accompanied by his/her parents. If a minor is accompanied by an adult other than his parents, it is necessary to present a written authorization for the minor to check into the hotel. According to Colombian law 1336 of 2009, Child sexual exploitation is illegal. Guests are required to show a photo identification and credit card upon check-in.
